Step 1: Open the Finder or iTunes app on a Mac or PC.

Step 2: Connect your iPhone X to the computer with USB cable.

Step 3: Then follow the steps to boot iPhone X into Recovery Mode.

    • Press and hold the Side button and one of the volume buttons until the power off slider appears.
    • Drag the slider to turn off your device.
    • Connect your device to your computer while holding the Side button.
    • Keep holding the Side button until you see the recovery-mode screen.

If Update fails, put your iPhone into recovery mode again and this time click Restore, which erases all settings and content.

This option involves using iCloud and Find My iPhone to erase all data and settings from your phone. This way works only if you have "Find My iPhone" enabled on your iPhone.

Step 1: You can either sign in to icloud.com/find or use the Find My app on a second iOS device.

Step 2: Log in with the Apple ID and password that used on the locked iPhone.

If you have enabled two-factor authentication for your Apple ID, then a message with a verification code should be sent to your devices. Because the device is locked, you don't enter the code to continue. In this situation, go to the next method to see how to unlock your locked iPhone X without passcode via tool.
