7 Ways to Fix Battery Icon Missing from Taskbar in Windows 10

When working with a laptop, we tend to check the remaining battery capacity through the battery icon. Normally, the battery icon shows in the notification area on the right side of the taskbar. If you find that the battery icon is missing from taskbars in Windows 10, you can recover the battery icon by the following tutorial.

Solution 1: Display Hidden Battery Icon

Maybe the battery icon disappears because it hides in the notification area. Therefore, tap on the Up Arrow at the notification area, and check whether there is a missing battery icon.

If you can find the battery icon, you can drag it back to the notification area.

Here are other ways if you fail to find the battery icon missing from the taskbar.

Solution 2: Turn on Hidden Battery Icon

The battery icon probably is set not showing on the taskbar, or it is disabled. You can turn on the battery icon through Taskbar Settings.

Step 1: Right-click the blank area in the taskbar, and select Taskbar Settings from the pop-up menu.

Step 2: Navigate to the Notification area in the Taskbar Settings window. Here are two options you need to select.

Step 3: Click on Select which icons appear on the taskbar. Navigate to Power, check whether it is turned off. You should click the On button to enable the battery icon on the taskbar.

Step 4: Return to the Taskbar Settings window, select Turn system icons on or off, and turn the Power button on to display the battery icon missing from the taskbar.

Solution 3: Troubleshoot Power Settings

If the battery icon is still missing after turning on the Power button, you should check the Power settings with the troubleshooter.

Navigate to Settings < Update & security < Troubleshoot. Scroll down to locate the Power option. Click on Run the troubleshooter and then follow the on-screen steps.

Solution 4: Restart or Reinstall Battery Driver

When the battery driver doesn’t work normally, the battery icon should be missing from the taskbar. Thus, it is suggested to restart or reinstall the battery drivers.

Step 1: Press the Win + X hotkeys, and select Device Manager from the pop-up menu.

Click the Batteries option and expand it. There are two adapters, Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery. You need to perform the following steps for each device.

Step 2: Right-click on each adapter and select Disable device. After that, right-click each again and select Enable device.

Step 3: Restart the laptop and check whether you can retrieve the battery icon missing in Windows 10.

Step 4: If reenabling the battery driver is valid, reinstall battery drivers for the second trial. Right-click each adapter and select Uninstall device.

Step 5: After the uninstallation, click on Scan for hardware changes icon in the upper column.

Step 6: Restart Windows 10, and the system will install battery adapters again. Then the missing battery icon should appear in the notification area.

Solution 5: Restart Windows Explorer

The battery icon missing from the taskbar issue will take place sometimes because Windows Explorer goes wrong. You can try to restart Windows Explorer to get back the battery icon.

Solution 6: Restore Battery Icon with Group Policy

You can also try to use the Group Policy to retrieve the battery icon missing from the taskbar.

Step 1: Run the Local Group Policy Editor, and follow the path User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar. Double-click Remove the battery meter at the right pane.

Step 2: Select Disabled in the following window, and click OK. Restart the laptop to confirm the settings. After that, the battery icon missing in Windows 10 will appear.

Solution 7: Repair Corrupt System Files

The corrupt system files might lead to the battery icon not showing in the taskbar. You can use System File Checker to start detection and correction. And the battery icon missing from the taskbar should come back after repairing corrupted system files.
