Occasionally, you may need to create a guest account for others to access your Windows 10 computer with limited rights. Now this page will show you how to do that.<\/p>\n

How to create a guest account in Windows 10<\/h2>\n

There are essentially three main steps as below.<\/p>\n

Step 1: Open User Accounts dialog<\/h3>\n

Open Command Prompt as administrator<\/a>. Then type control userpasswords2<\/strong> and press Enter<\/strong> key. This will bring up the User Accounts<\/strong> dialog.<\/p>\n

\nAlternative: You also can press Win + R<\/strong> keyboard shortcuts to open the Run<\/strong> dialog<\/a>. Then type netplwiz<\/strong> and press Enter<\/strong> key.<\/p>\n

Step 2: Create a new user<\/h3>\n

  1. Click the Advanced<\/strong> tab. Then click on the Advanced<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. Click on Users<\/strong> folder in the left-side pane. Click on More Actions<\/strong> on the right-side pane and select New User<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      1. In the New User dialog, type a username and leave other fields blank. Uncheck the box next to User must change password at next login. <\/strong>Check the box next to User cannot change the password <\/strong>and the box next to Password never expires<\/strong>. Then click Create<\/strong> and Close<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Step 3: Make the user guest account on Windows 10<\/h3>\n

        1. Right-click on the newly created user and select Properties<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          1. Select Member Of<\/strong> tab. Select Users<\/strong> and click on Remove<\/strong> button. Next, click the Add<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            1. In the Select Groups<\/strong> dialog, click on Advanced<\/strong> button in the lower left corner.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              4. Click on Find Now<\/strong>. Select Guests<\/strong> in the search results and then click OK<\/strong>. Continue clicking OK<\/strong> two times to close the dialog boxes. Then the user has been added to the Guests<\/strong> group and has been a guest account. That\u2019s it. You\u2019ve created a guest account on Windows 10<\/a>.<\/p>\n

              In addition: Actually, all versions of Windows including Windows 10 create one built-in guest account in the system installation process. However, the built-in guest is disabled by default so that it\u2019s unavailable before it\u2019s enabled. Hence, you also can enable the built-in guest account on Windows 10<\/a> to make it available.<\/p>\n

              Tips: The user who signs in to Windows 10 with guest account won\u2019t be able to access documents, install software or hardware, or make any changes to the system. Although a guest account has very limited access rights to the computer, it is likely to open a door to those who attempt to hack your computer. Hence, you\u2019d better disable the built-in or any newly-created guest account on your Windows 10 computer if you don\u2019t use it all that often.
