Now, this post will show you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/change-data-file-pst-ost-location-in-outlook-2016\">how to change the data file location in Outlook 2016<\/a>&nbsp;for Windows.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#part1\">Part 1: Change PST file location<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#part2\">Part 2: Change OST file location<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"part1\">Part 1: How to change the data file (.PST) location in Outlook 2016<\/h2>\n<p>By default, the Outlook PST files are saved in &#8221;C: \\Users\\Username\\Documents\\Outlook Files&#8221;. To change the location, do as follows.<\/p>\n<p>Step 1: Make sure that Outlook 2016 is closed and the PST files are not opened in any other program\/software.<\/p>\n<p>Step 2: Locate the &#8221;Documents\\Outlook Files&#8221; folder. Press <strong>Ctrl + A<\/strong> to select all the PST files and move them to your desired folder. Then clear the PST files in the &#8221;Documents\\Outlook Files&#8221; folder.<\/p>\n<p>Step 3: Start Outlook 2016. You will get a warning message that says yours PST file cannot be found. Through the dialog, navigate to the new path you have specified for the Outlook 2016 data files (.PST), then select any one of the PST files, and click <strong>Open<\/strong>. This will tell Outlook 2016 the saving location of the data files (.PST) has been changed to the new location. To change it, do as follows.<\/p>\n<p>Step 1: Make sure that Outlook 2016 is closed and the OST files are not opened in any other program\/software.<\/p>\n<p>Step 2: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/access-registry-editor-in-windows-10\/\">Open Registry Editor<\/a> by running <strong>regedit<\/strong> in <strong>Run<\/strong> (Win + R) dialog box.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"408\" height=\"209\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1499\" src=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/open-regedit.jpg\" alt=\"Open Registry Editor\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/open-regedit.jpg 408w, https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/open-regedit-300x154.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 408px) 100vw, 408px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Step 3: Navigate to the path: <strong>HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Office\\16.0\\Outlook<\/strong>, then right-click on any blank area of the right-side pane and then select <strong>New -&gt; Expandable String Value<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"350\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1500\" src=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/new-expandable-string-value.png\" alt=\"Create new expandable string value\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/new-expandable-string-value.png 600w, https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/new-expandable-string-value-300x175.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Step 4: Name the newly created expandable string value as ForceOSTPath, and then double click on it. On the &#8221;Edit String&#8221; dialog, enter your desired path under the &#8221;Value data&#8221; box and then click OK.
