This is a great way to free up space on your iPhone or iPad when your device has not enough storage space. Additionally, the external drive remains a solid choice if you prefer a physical location to store, protect and share your data (without any cloud storage fees, either). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s see how to transfer files and photos from Pad or iPhone to external storage without using a computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1: Connect external storage to your iPhone or iPad<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Prepare an Apple&#8217;s Lightning-to-USB or Lightning-to-USB 3 camera adapters, depending on your drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/1123\/apple-usb-c-reader.webp\" alt=\"Apple USB-C reader\" width=\"581\" height=\"354\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Connect external storage<strong> <\/strong>to your iPhone or iPad, either directly to its Lightning or USB-C port (for 2018 iPad Pros), or through an Apple USB adapter.<\/li><li>Open the <strong>Files<\/strong> app on your iPhone or iPad.<\/li><li>Tap the <strong>Browse<\/strong> option at the bottom right of the screen.<\/li><li>Tap the name of your <strong>external drive<\/strong> in the list of locations.<\/li><li>Create any necessary folders to gather your valuable data properly. Just tap the &#8220;New Folder&#8221; button at the top, then type the fold name. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/1123\/add-new-folder.webp\" alt=\"Create new folder\" width=\"580\" height=\"441\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2: Move files from iPhone\/iPad to external storage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Method 1: Use Save to File Extension<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Apple allows third-party apps to save files directly to the external drive, so you don&#8217;t have to go through the Files app. For example, you can export photos to a USB drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Go to the <strong>Phone<\/strong> app, select the image, then tap the<strong> Share<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/1123\/share-image-in-iphone.webp\" alt=\"Tap share button\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>2. After one second, your photos will be exported at full resolution to the folder you selected on your external storage device. To confirm this, go to the Files application and navigate to the folder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also use this method to move PDFs, videos, images, and more from any app to external storage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Method 2: Use the Files application<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>What if the file has been saved in the Files app, then you can use the drag and drop feature to quickly move files.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. In the <strong>Files<\/strong> app, tap the name of your storage service from the Browse menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Tap <strong>Select<\/strong>, then select files that you want to move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.
