Now, this post will show you how to do this.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#part1\">Part 1: How to lock all cells<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#part2\">Part 2: How to lock some certain cells<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"part1\">Part 1: How to lock all cells in Excel 2016<\/h2>\n<p>Step 1: Open your worksheet in Excel 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Step 2: Select the <strong>Review<\/strong> tab and then click on the<strong> Protect Sheet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"406\" height=\"151\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1276\" src=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/protect-sheet.jpg\" alt=\"Click on Protect Sheet\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/protect-sheet.jpg 406w, https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/protect-sheet-300x112.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 406px) 100vw, 406px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Step 3: In the <strong>Protect Sheet<\/strong> dialog, keep <strong>Protect worksheet and contents of locked cells<\/strong> checked, and then you can select how to protect the sheet and lock the cells, such as whether to assign a password to unprotect the sheet, whether to allow users to select locked\/unlocked cells, whether to allow users to insert rows\/columns, and so on. By default, it allows all users to select the locked and unlocked cells, but you can change this based on your own needs. After selecting what you allow users to do, click <strong>OK<\/strong> to confirm.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"285\" height=\"312\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1277\" src=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/lock-cells.jpg\" alt=\"Allow users to\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/lock-cells.jpg 285w, https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/lock-cells-274x300.jpg 274w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 285px) 100vw, 285px\" \/><br \/>\nThen all the cells get locked as you required. To unlock the cells, just need to click on the<strong> Unprotect Sheet<\/strong> under the <strong>Review<\/strong> tab to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/free-ways-to-unprotect-excel-sheet-without-password\/\">unprotect the Excel worksheet<\/a> 2016.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"part2\">Part 2: How to lock specific cells in Excel 2016<\/h2>\n<p>Step 1: On the Excel sheet, select the target cells you don&#8217;t want to lock. Right click on the selection and then select <strong>Format Cells<\/strong> from the menu.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"242\" height=\"215\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1278\" src=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/format-cells.jpg\" alt=\"Select Format Cells\"><\/p>\n<p>Step 2: After the <strong>Format Cells <\/strong>dialog opens, select the <strong>Protection<\/strong> tab, uncheck the box next to <strong>Locked<\/strong>, which is checked by default, and then click <strong>OK<\/strong>. This will unlock the selected cells. Unlocking will take effect after you protect the worksheet. So your next step is to protect the worksheet to unlock the selected cells and lock the rest of the cells.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"539\" height=\"468\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1279\" src=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/uncheck-locked.jpg\" alt=\"Uncheck Locked\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/uncheck-locked.jpg 539w, https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/uncheck-locked-300x260.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 539px) 100vw, 539px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Step 3: Select the <strong>Review<\/strong> tab, click on the<strong> Protect Sheet.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Step 4: In the <strong>Protect Sheet <\/strong>dialog, select what you want to allow all users of this worksheet to do, and click <strong>OK<\/strong>. This will lock the cells expect the specified cells you just selected in Step 1.
