What&#8217;s more, sometimes you also need to prevent others from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/access-registry-editor-in-windows-10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">accessing your Windows Registry Editor<\/a> to modify or delete Registry value, especially when you are using your computer in public, such as at school, or in the Office. Now, this page will show two ways you can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/disable-access-to-registry-editor-in-windows-10\/\">disable access to Registry Editor in Windows 10<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#way1\">Way 1: via Group Policy Editor<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#way2\">Way 2: via Registry Editor<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"way1\">Way 1: Disable access to Windows 10 Registry Editor via Group Policy Editor<\/h2>\n<p>This way doesn&#8217;t work on Windows 10 Home edition because Windows Home edition has no Local Group Policy Editor.<\/p>\n<p>Step 1: Press <strong>Win + R<\/strong> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/4-ways-to-open-run-dialog-box-in-windows-10\/\">bring out the <strong>Run<\/strong> dialog<\/a>. Then type <strong>regedit<\/strong> and click <strong>OK <\/strong>to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/open-local-group-policy-editor-in-windows-10\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">open Local Group Policy Editor<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"399\" height=\"206\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1144\" src=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/run-gpedit-command.jpg\" alt=\"Type gpedit.msc in Run box\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/run-gpedit-command.jpg 399w, https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/run-gpedit-command-300x155.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 399px) 100vw, 399px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Step 2: Navigate to <em>User Configuration\\Administrative Templates\\System<\/em>. Then you will find <strong>Prevent access to registry editing tools<\/strong> on the right-side pane and double-click on it.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"396\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1145\" src=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/prevent-access-to-registry-editing-tools.png\" alt=\"Double-click on Prevent access to registry editing tools\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/prevent-access-to-registry-editing-tools.png 650w, https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/prevent-access-to-registry-editing-tools-300x183.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Step 3: To disable access to Registry Editor, check the box next to <strong>Enabled<\/strong>, and then click <strong>Apply<\/strong> followed by <strong>OK<\/strong>. (Press <strong>Win + R<\/strong> to bring out the<strong> Run<\/strong> dialog. Then type <strong>regedit<\/strong> and click <strong>OK<\/strong>. Click <strong>Yes<\/strong> if prompted with <strong>User Account Control<\/strong> dialog.)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"399\" height=\"206\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1148\" src=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/run-regedit-command.jpg\" alt=\"Type regedit in Run box\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/run-regedit-command.jpg 399w, https:\/\/www.isumsoft.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/run-regedit-command-300x155.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 399px) 100vw, 399px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Step 2: Navigate to HKEY_CURRECT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Policies\\System. Then you will see a &#8220;<strong>DisableRegistryTools<\/strong>&#8221; value on the right-side pane.<\/p>\n<p>Tips: If you can&#8217;t find the <strong>System<\/strong> key under <strong>Policies<\/strong> entry, right click on <strong>Policies<\/strong> and select <strong>New -&gt; Key<\/strong> to create a System key. Then right-click on the right-side pane and select <strong>New -&gt; DWORD (32-bit<\/strong>) Value to create a new value named &#8220;DisableRegistryTools&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Step 3: Double-click on <strong>DisableRegistryTools<\/strong>. The Registry Editor has been disabled to prevent other\u2019s access.
