How to Use Find My iPhone to Track My iPhone if Gets Lost

The Find My iPhone feature of iCloud lets users track down a lost or stolen iPhone, iPad or Mac. With Find My iPhone on, you can track the location of a lost or stolen iPhone, play noise, send a message to display on the screen and even wipe the iPhone to protect your data.

Turn Find My iPhone on in case of your iPhone gets lost or stolen

1. Go to Settings -> iCloud -> Find My iPhone to make sure this is turned on.

2. It is also a good idea to turn Send Last Location on. This sends the GPS information for your iPhone right before the battery dies, so that it is easier to find a lost iPhone or figure out where a stolen iPhone was.

When discovering your iPhone gets lost, try to track it with Find My iPhone

Here’s how to use it:

1. Go to and log in using your Apple ID information. You’ll be greeted with a handful of apps arranged similarly to how your iPhone home screen looks like.

2. Click on the Find My iPhone icon and you’ll be taken to a full-screen map with dots representing where your various Apple devices are located (including Mac computers, if you have any).

3. You can click on Devices at the top to view all of your Apple devices, and when you select your lost or stolen one, you’ll have the same three options as the Find My iPhone app: Play Sounds, Lost Mode and Erase iPhone.

Additional Tips:

Tip 1: Personally, using Find My iPhone would be the first thing I do, but again, don’t spend a lot of time fiddling around with it. Instead, quickly log on and see if you can track your iPhone.

Tip 2: It only works when the phone is on and it has a signal, so if your phone gets stolen and the thief was smart enough to turn off the phone or put it in Airplane Mode, Find My iPhone won’t work, but it’ll at least give you a fighting chance.
