What to Do When You Can't Open PowerPoint File

PowerPoint presentation is widely used in study and at work. Some people hardly use Microsoft Office in daily life or at work. So they didn’t install Microsoft Office on the computer, which makes they can’t find programs to open PowerPoint files. But don’t worry. You can open PowerPoint file without using PowerPoint but using the free program Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer.

Free download Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer and install it on your computer. (It should be much easier than installing Microsoft Office.) Using PowerPoint Viewer you can open, view, and print PowerPoint files and slide shows such as pps, ppt and pptx files created in PowerPoint 97-2013.

Case 2: How to open password protected PowerPoint file without password

If a PowerPoint file is password protected, without the password you can’t open the PowerPoint file. In this case, you need to use some third party software like PowerPoint Password Refixer to find the lost/forgotten/unknown password so that you can re-open the PowerPoint file.

Step 1: Download and Install PowerPoint Password Refixer on your computer. Then launch the software.

Step 2: Click on the Open button. Navigate to the path to the password protected PowerPoint you can’t open. Add it into the software.

Case 3: Other possible reasons make you can’t open PowerPoint file

1. If the PowerPoint installed on your computer is Microsoft PowerPoint 2007/2010, you may can’t open a PPT file created in PowerPoint 2003.

2. If your PowerPoint software is damaged after system reinstallation or for some other reasons so that you can’t open PPT file. In this case, you need to reinstall PowerPoint on your computer.

3. You will be unable to open a PowerPoint file if it has been corrupted. You have to fix it.
