How to Enable/Disable Auto-play Message Effects in iPhone/iPad

If you use message effects with iMessage in iPhone/iPad, you might wish to auto-play bubble effects and full-screen animation effects even when Reduce Motion is turned on. Here this tutorial will show you how to enable/disable auto-play message effects in iPhone/iPad.

Enable Auto-play Message Effect in iPhone/iPad

If your iPhone/iPad have updated to iOS 10.1, you can enable Auto-play Message Effects. When Auto-play Message Effects is on, bubble effects and full-screen effects play automatically.

To enable Auto-play message effect, follow these steps:

Step 1: Go to Settings > General > Accessibility.

Step 2: Tap on Reduce Motion, turn it On. Then turn on Auto-play Message effects.

2 Option to Disable Auto-play Message Effects

Option 1: Turn off Auto-play message effect, but leave Reduce Motion enabled.

If you turn Auto-play Message Effects Off while Reduce Motion is On, the effects your friends send you will not auto-play in the Messages app, you have to manually play the effect. Just tap Message replay icon under the message.

Disable Auto-play Message Effects

Option 2: Turn off Reduce Motion feature, then Auto-play Message Effect is disabled.

When Reduce Motion is On, certain screen effects change, including the icons in status bars appear ghosting on iPhone Home screen. If you are annoying with the parallax effect of icons, you can turn off Reduce motion.

To disable Reduce motion, follow these steps:

Step 1: Go to Settings > General Accessibility.

Step 2: Tap on Reduce Motion, then turn it Off.

You can still send iMessages with effects even if the Reduce Motion option is Off.
